TRAINING

Through formal teaching, workshops, training and support I aspire to help people of all ages and from all walks of life nurture active listening and foster a love of music making using technology. Having worked in primary, secondary, FE, HE and community arts environments, I am well-aware of the diversity of learner needs and aspirations. In adapting to the particular requirements of students, I aim to blend e-learning with more traditional face-to-face modes of learning allowing flexibility of time, space and learning path, whilst also giving the learner the human interactions that develop social skills and personal resiliance. Throughout my teaching career, I have experimented with a great deal of music related technologies in a variety of settings and am constantly adapting my delivery to make learning meaningful and engaging.

Most recently I have been working with the following organisations:

Lecturing in sound recording at UWL, Ealing.

Music leader at Readipop, community arts organisation

Musical Director for Parafinnalia, working with a community drumming group.

Community workshops and secondary teaching with Creative People arts organisation.

I was an FE course leader and lecturer in Music Technology at Reading College for thirteen years. During this time I strove to maximise student success through engaging learning and well-structured curriculum design. During my time at the college I also lectured in computer sequencing and sound design on the HND programme and serviced the Music Technology module for undergraduate music students at Reading University. My role as course leader and advanced practitioner saw me develop several interactive e-learning resources and online learning packages as well as offering staff training and PGCE mentoring.

Community music projects in both primary and secondary schools.
